Photo shootin' - raw or not to raw???

Had a great weekend with Damion and his little family. Did a small photo shoot. I am still confused about shooting in RAW and editing it? Can you tell which is which? What should I be doing that I am not?????? I think I am confused

I have started ONLY shooting RAW when doing portraits. If my understanding is correct, a raw file is the "least" compressed unchanged file, making it the "ideal" file/photo to work with when desiring to do any editing. If the pics are just everyday candid shots I shoot in jpeg-fine. Of course the RAW files are much much larger, and therefore take up more space on our camera and computer. Once I have edited a RAW file/pic, I then save it as a jpeg and delete the raw file off my computer. As if you don't know this......lol! Love the pics Deb!
