Everything's WHITE!!

Remember my "Everything's Orange" blog from the other day? Well here is a photo taken from that same spot after receving some almost 3 feet of snow. A lot melted as it came down and even melted during the time it was snowing so this doesn't really give a true picture of all the snow we got but it does give an idea.

This is taken looking out my back door. Last week I posted a picture of how warm and cozy it looked with the fall background. Don't think I will be sitting out here for awhile, however once it melts I am going to have my hubby move my outdoor Tuscany fireplace to this layer of the deck so we CAN enjoy the fall/winter weather.

My fall 'fake' leaves even look pretty with the snow. Since we didn't have a real pretty fall I tried to "autumn" things up with garlands. Looks more like someone who forgot to take down her fall decorations because it's winter!!

However not as intense, we have once again, a beautiful sunrise. The old saying "Red at night sailor's delight - red in the morn sailor's be warned" came true for us the other day..............what will happen again I wonder?

And check this out.............I must be hungry cuz it all looks so good. Well I guess I am hungry, no one here to releave me for lunch.

Everything is ORANGE!

When I got out of the shower today I couldn't believe my eyes.......everything was orange inside and outside! The sunrise was absolutely beautiful! There is an old saying 'Red sky in the night-sailor's delight. Red sky in the morn-sailor's warning!" Jeff told me that it means WIND and I think he is right as the forecast is for blowing snow. YUCK! However I couldn't help but enjoy the beautiful view. Sorry the photos isn't a better view, but I knew it would only last a few seconds and with towel in one hand and camera in other I wasn't able to change settings or go further out the door:)

One down........many to go!

I am not sure why I do this to myself but it seemed like fun. I found this Heidi Markish design last year and didn't buy it because I was too busy to work on it, but this year I thought it would be fun to get it and involve my friend Satch into making one with me. UM let's see 16 stuffed heads later...........I finally got one done for me. I just need time to do the last five or six. But isn't he cute?

Looking out my back door

Fall sort of passed us by this year, harsh winds took out a lot of the leaves and an early frost killed the rest so there just wasn't a lot of pretty this year. However leaves on my 'Jeremy' tree gave me a little bit of a show. I love to sit out here in late afternoon just as the sun is getting ready to set. I can smell the earth, the burning wood from fireplaces and listen to the small noises of the neighborhood and life is perfect.

Jaxon's Quilt

Look, Look What I Did! Ok this really isn't a quilt - it's a panel with trim put around it BUT for me it was a HUGE project. What should have taken about 4 hours to make took about 10. My mentor, Becky, assures me that it wasn't my fault that the material stretched and the quilting machine messed up but.......we all know that me behind a sewing machine is an accident waiting to happen. I made this for Jaxon's birthday (a little late I'm afraid) but gramps said "no more toys" - so what's a gramma to do? I saw this little lap quilt or wall hanging or whatever it is in Rapid City on our fall ride and I just knew it would be fun to sew.

I love how bright and colorful it is.

The inside panels were all witchy and pumkiny. OK that's not a word but you know what I mean.

Can you see the quilting? I love Becky's quiltiing machine and once she put on some good ole' cowpoke music It was really easy to sway the machine and quilt.

The back shows the quilting a little better, it's pumpkins. Can you see the design. I loved the back too, with all those eyeballs. Hope it doesn't scare him.

Not so good.....not so bad.

Friday was kind of a crappy day for the Kennedy family, well for Jeremy. He lost his horse to something, maybe a heart attack. We don't know, and it doesn't matter, he was devestated and my heart just broke for him. When they are little you can put them on your lap and comfort them but when they are bigger all you can do is let them know you are there for them. (Ladies, it doesn't get any easier, maybe even harder when your kids get bigger.) Adrianne spent the night with us, she loves to come over and we love to have her. She and I had a girl's night out and went to the show "Where the Wild Things Are", while papa went to the FB game. Which was good as Jeremy was the only one on the rescue squad and they had an injury. Sat. we went to Austin's FB game and that was great. Good weather, great plays and a win........! Austin made us proud with several good touchdowns, however we know that it was a BIG team effort. And those boys, goodness they had some good plays for just youngsters. Adrianne, Jeff and I ran to Hemingford to give Jaxon his B-day gifts as he really didn't get to have a party this year. Several kids that were invited were sick and due to the Swine Flu Brandi decided to cancel. It wouldn't be very good for Cash at 4 months or Brandi fresh out of surgery to catch that, nor anyone for that matter. Then on Sunday Jeff, Adrianne and I worked like dogs cleaning up the garden and the backyard.(Jody, there ARE still snakes out!) Jeff built me a raised flower bed, one of three that I am putting in the alley. So excited about that. Anyway after a shower and bed I was much rested this morning. I must have been a piggy cuz there was a pile of mud in the bathtub. I love diggin in the dirt!! (Sorry to those of you who love to come pumpkin pickin, our patch was not so good this year...........NEXT YEAR - NO SURGERY SO BE READY PUMPKIN PICKERS!!

It's The Big 4!

Brandi's surgery and the fun I had!

Brandi is such a trooper; came through her surgery fairly well and is now on her way to a full recovery. She went in with a positive attitude - the secret to a quick recovery. I had the same surgery when I was 28, only they cut your whole tummy from side to side, and my cuz Teckla said "just get up and move and it makes all the difference". She was right, it worked for me and it has worked for Brandi. ME, I am still on the recovery end of taking care of two little boys! THERE IS A REASON WOMEN MY AGE DON'T HAVE KIDS!! I loved every minute of it, playing with Jaxon and his mind of make believe and snuggling with Cash was, as the tv ads say, "PRICELESS". But I had to come back to work to get some rest :) LOL!!

Rub a Dub Dub...Emma in the tub!

Emma loves to get all dolled up when she visits grannie's. We start out with a bath, then Emma likes to comb out her hair and, well everyone else's including grandpas.

"Grandpa - you look so pretty!"

The hairdo, one rubberband of every color!

Musn't forget the makeup! Isn't she pretty?

Baby - It's cold outside!

So much for fall splendor this year. Several feet of snow and numbers in the teens kind of takes a toll on the yard, flowers and trees, however there is a beauty to it anyway. My bathtub lost the shower head but still keep running, the fish are now dug out and housed in their winter home. I picked some sweet peas and delphinium's the other day but didn't get them brought inside. But even they are pretty with the first snow on them. Kind of makes me want to pull out some Christmas stuff. AAGH I can't believe I said that.

Ta Da...it's done!

Ok, I have been talking about changing my kitchen from tulips to ummmmm warm colors, not sure what you could call it but I love fall and all the colors and the red sunflowers in my new plates just made me want to do something different. We still have the floor to do but hubby and I can't decide, or should I say agree, on the flooring. I want ceramic tile, he wants Pergo laminated looking wood. Hope I win! Thank you Angie for everything.

Hobby Lobby had a great sale, I already had a couple of their pieces and then added to it with the swags and wreath below.

One of my inspiration pieces!

My homemade cupboards with my homemade curtains - I bought an extra curtain to make them. The pitcher, platter and tea pot is from Brandi's wedding, just one of those things I can't part with.

I coulnd't believe my luck when I found this sunflower rug at Lowes and it turned out to be on sale. How great was that?

My little table and chairs. They need to be replaced but haven't found what I want yet! Pretty hard to get all of us around this table even when all the leaves are put in. I got these no tie cushions for a little bit of nothing at Wal Mart.

The top of the hutch. The sign is in honor of a friend who died a few years ago.

The China Hutch that hubby bought me a few years ago as an anniversary present, in wood of course.

Oak leaves in my very large pitcher!

I have never been able to just put this jar in the cupboard, we bought it for Brandi's shower and I love it! You can see the golden brown color of one of my paint schemes. The colors are from Martha Stewart and far from the khaki (sp) green I was looking for - but they matched the curtains so well.

My curtains and window topper. Curtains came from Wally World and were a little bit of a disappointment but I like it now that it is all done. Unfortunately I missed the bottom of the curtain where the tassels are. One of the reasons I bought them. I ordered them on line, probably won't do that again. Lessons learned.

This little guy fits right in - he probably will go back into storage the day after Thanksgiving but for right now, he is sitting pretty in the kitchen

Couldn't help myself......the pumpkin soup bowl was on sale at Hobby Lobby.

Punkins in the Pumpkin Patch

OOPS! Grandpa made Cash cry, it took some lovin from papa to make it better.

Cash finally came around but it was a little chilly and he was ready for grannie to be done taking pictures.

Jaxon found the PERFECT PUMPKIN and wanted his picture taken with it.

Jaxon also wanted a big pumpkin so he helped papa pick it.

Jax and his imagination! He started telling me how he wanted to make a pumpkin scarecrow, so we did the best we could with what we had. What do you think of those green eyes?

Fall Ride 09'

What a great weekend Jeff and I had, unfortunately it wasn't on the bike, like it was suppose to be. The wind was horrible in the hills on Friday but Sat. was a beauty, I got a few pictures - will post larger on Honey Bee Heaven.
