Guardian Angel

I had the best present tonight. Miss Emma Jean came in with her daddy carrying this beautiful crafted card and a gift. She was grinning from ear to ear because she had a gift for her grandma. It was a Get Well card and a Guardian Angel figurine. Now I know with these two angels that all will be well with my surgery. I shall take it to the surgery center with me and it will wait for my return from the operating room.

Thank you Miss Emma and Anne

How Smart Is Your Right Foot?

I got this on an email and have tried it several times. I can't for the life of me do it any different. It's pre-programmed in your brain!

1. Without anyone watching you (they will think you are GOOFY........) and while sitting at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number '6' in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction.

I told you so!!! And there's nothing you can do about it! You and I both know how stupid it is, but before the day is done you are going to try it again, if you've not already done so

Love to read your blogs!

I anxiously look at my blog first thing in the morning and again at night excited to read what everyone has been up to. I can't tell you how much I look forward to that. It's like keeping up with everyone and not having to pick up the phone and call. Not that I don't love talking to each and every one of you but who has time to do that? Every one's life is so full of riches and I so appreciate that they share it with me. Keep on blogging kiddo's!

Now for the day.......isn't the snow beautiful and to think it will be in the 50's this weekend! I made baked potato soup today for the girl's here at the Fort. The recipe was in the Clipper last week. YUM!! My friend Connie, one of the best cooks I know, sends in those recipes.

I made the executive decision not to travel to Lincoln for Anne's wedding and I am so sad. I helped to make some of her decorations; thank you cards and helped with her shower, not to mention love the kid, but my hubby thinks it would be stressful on my back (and he is right) driving to Lincoln on Friday and back home on Sunday and then up to Rapid City would be rough on it. I hate it when he is right and usually he is..........bummer. I think the wedding will be one of the prettiest with the baby blue, silver, and white snowflake theme. Well that is why they make cameras!! I pray that my friends understand.

Well its off to work..........

Ah Ha moment!

Not sure if anyone has had the time to watch T.V. especially Oprah but she has had the past two weeks a Best Life series not just about eating healthy, losing weight but spiritual, monetary, sexual etc. Some of the people on have just given me great things to ponder. One of them is the Suzie Orman's finacial guide 2009 book which you can download free until tomorrow. It has some great ideas for saving money for kid's college; retirement etc. All of the shows I have watched have really inspired me, just wanted to pass that along.

This can't be bad.........

Just visited with the nurse at the surgery center and she tells me that my surgeon is the best at the Surgery Center. I was rather apprehensive about this surgery but after speaking with her, not so much anymore. She called for my health history and to take my order for any specail foods, drinks or magazines that I might like. I did tell her a margaurita would be nice!! OK I'm sitcking to Diet Coke. This place sounds like heaven, I even have heated towels!! I might never want to leave! My surgery will be done while laying on my back with my arms tucked under me and my legs lowered, sounds like a vunerable position huh? It will take 2-3 hours and I will have to lay on my tummy for awhile, hard to watch major tv that way but I bet I figure a way to do that. My family can be with me and there is a pull down bed for one of them to stay if they like. They also get a preference for food, drink and books. I should have instant relief for my back with the major pain coming from the hip area where they take the bone. I guess it is just a tiny amount of bone but still painful. A little pain............I can handle that! So it is just 6 days and counting, I have waited for back relief for almost 30 years so I am looking forward to this day. Thanks for all the encouragment and prayers.

A night of entertainment!

Jaxon and I had so much fun last night. He came in so excited that he had gotten to ride with the uncles from Chadron to Crawford and also that he had a pocketful of candy from Kyler's mom. The first thing he told me after passing out candy was that he and uncle Greg looked at some 'scary Hot Chicks' on his calendar!! We then had to put his Spider Man suit on and played good Spider Man (Jaxon)vs bad Spider Man (grandma). My living room was an ocean filled with sharks and our bridge of pillows allowed us to get to land (the furniture) without getting attacked. However bad Spider Man whose story name is Puffy Parker at grandma's house, did eventually get eaten by the sharks. We then re-enacted Christmas Eve while packaging every toy and little boy with a blanket and then opening our presents after Santa arrived. We also played cars with "Cars" figurines I got to be Ramone and watched a Thomas the Train movie and before Jax left I (Bumble Bee - one bad bot) had to chase Jaxon (Optimus Prime) to remove his yellow slippers! So I think in one night I had a pretty good work-out..........I probably could drop a few pounds if Jaxon lived closer!!

Maybe...some help

Hi, I know everyone is going through a rough time right now with the jobs the way they are and employment issues. I don't know if this would help anyone but we are starting to take applications at Fort Rob for summer employment, with interviews for late Feb. or early March. Probably the earliest any jobs would start would be April 1, some a little later. Maintenance & housekeeping are ones that always come on first. Anyway it's worth a try. You can give me a call for more info, or stop by and pick up an app., or file on line. I have a 10 month position in the office and would like someone that would come back year after year. If anyone has anyone that might be interested please have them give me a call. This is probably not much help but if the R&R doesn't come through maybe it could get you through the summer.

Surgery

For those of you who know me you also know that I have suffered from back pain for many a year. Well THAT is all going to be in the past. Jan. 19 I will have a "Lumbar four-five laminectomy & fusion, internal fixation, iliac crest bone graft". Now I thought that sounded kind of scary until my friend Jackie asks "What are they removing?" "Removing" I say, "they aren't taking anything out they are just fixing it." She laughed and informed me that any time you have anything with the ending in ectomy it means they are removing something! Ok, I'm an idiot I just thought it was a bone graft over a couple of screws. I don't think they are removing to much just the broken parts, however I am excited to see if this helps. The Dr. gave me a choice to have MOST of my pain gone or I could just go home and live with the pain. Now I don't know about you but that sounded pretty good - I have a 90% chance of the surgery working and even a little higher since I am not a smoker soooooooooooo here I go!. Just say a little prayer for me ok? Also you might add in your prayers that while under anethisa I don't ask my dr. something stupid like "What kind of nationallity are you?" His name is Rand Schleusener!! My 2009 bucket list has now included painting the living room, bedroom, kitchen (new theme too), mudding the hallway, tearing out the old bedroom downstairs, setting up my cottage garden studio, revamping the yard.........can't wait for a healthy back!!

THE THREE OF US....OH AND CALI TOO!

Brandi, Jaxon, Cali and I all rang in the New Year with ole Dick Clark. I don't know how many years I have watched them light up that ball in Times Square......one day Brandi and I plan to see it for real. However looking at the crowd that had stood there for 13 hours I am guessing they mostly were under 25 years of age. Anyhow sitting in my warm and comfy living room was way better than the 2 degree weather they had. Happy New Year to all!

How about those Huskers!!

WHAT A WAY TO START OFF A NEW YEAR!!
