Bluffalo hunting, cooking and horseback riding.

What a wonderful couple days I had with the grannies. Emma was here for a few days and she, her dad and I went to the garden. We harvested some tomatoes; corn; onions and peppers. Greg and I put up several quarts of salsa and Emma and I shucked the corn and froze some. When we went to the Fort Emma wanted to see the Bluffalo, so we went looking. Too bad that they weren't close to the fence. I got a kick out of the way she said buffalo. She let me take her picture with my new Paula Dean apron on and then she had to take one of me also. I am not fond of bloggin pictures with myself but we did have fun with it. Later the Keane's came up and we went horseback riding with the Kennedy's. It was Cash's first time on a horse so we had to get a photo of that. Mike gave me three days off and then I work the 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. shift until we close for the season. That gives me a lot of time to create............I can get a faint smell of fall in the evening air and saw a little yellow in the Cottonwoods..............give me a couple of days and the house will be decorated for fall. I can't wait.

The 3 B's....

If no one ever comes to visit my garden I always have the 3 B's best friends. Butterflies, bees and birds. When you walk out onto the deck dozens of birds take flight after munching on the grapes, a little further into the garden you begin to hear the hum of the bees having a hay day in the flowerbeds. While listening to their gentle song you may notice the many, many different butterflies fluttering around the beds, some so friendly that they just lite upon my hands. Either the hummingbirds have forgotten me this year or have already passed through, they are the only little friends I haven't seen this year.

My project for the day! Grapes anyone?

My project for the day, to paint this old dry sink cupboard that I have had for many years stored in the garage. I thought a barn red would look smashing, if that doesn't work black it is! I think it will look good decorated for fall sitting on my front porch. Also, the grapes were wonderful this year and I noticed (by all the purple bird droppings :( on the deck) that they are ready to be picked. I don't have time to make jelly, anyone want them? Let me know you sure are welcome to them. They actually are grapes from the vineyard so maybe all you wine makers might like to have them. Later. Deb

Happy 1st. Day of Preschool Jaxon!

Brandi invited me to come down to Hemingford to see Jaxon off to his first day of Pre-School. I had worked from 5 p.m. the night before to 6 a.m. and was dragging some behind but I was soooooo glad to be included. Here he is with his cat Tali.

Our trip to Sheridan

Damion, Daunee' and Schultz were wonderful hosts and we had such a good time. They had a trunk full of new toys and Jaxon and Adrianne didn't want to leave. Although Cash had seen his aunt and uncle before he had a chance to get to know them. We didn't get to sit in the hot tub and the kids were disappointed but they did get to play in the swing in the back yard. The little jumper that Daunee' is holding is a gift from Schultz (the weiner dog). He bought a sleeper to bring the baby home in and guess what? It had weiner dogs all over the sleeper!

NO - Just Kiddin'

Went to Sheridan with Brandi, Jaxon, Cash and Adrianne and had a great time. I went with the kids to see the ultrasound of the baby and here are a couple of photos. The little guy is already over 2 lbs. and measuring early. I am thinking that he will be a big guy like Damion was. He has Damion's chin I think but he looks a lot like Daunee' too. All is well and the kiddos are so excited about their baby. I will add more pictures when I get some time. Very hectic at work and I am just to beat to get on the computer at night. Glad everyone's first day of school went so well!

If I didn't say it before.........

As I sit here thinking and almost totally pain free from my back problems I again am reminded how wonderful people were during and after my surgery. My husband, daughter and friend Becky took such good care of me, my son Damion & Daunee' did my spring gardening and my friends helped out so much with food, gifts, flowers, pulling weeds, vacuuming, prayers, etc. I don't know how I would have made it through without the help of these good people. So if I didn't get you thanked shame on me, cuz you all were wonderful!

I'm Healed!

Went to Rapid to my Dr. yesterday and my back is healed. I am a good healer, that's that the dr. said. Usually it takes more than a year to grow the bone that I did...so I guess all that calcium works!! OK, I will still have some back pain, like everyone does and I will never be able to pick up excess weight nor smoke (which I never have) but all in all I am good to go ride bikes, horses, golf, garden etc. As long as work into it, everything is fine. YIPPEE!!

Birthday Wishes!

Tonight we celebrated our little Adriannie's birthday. It was a wonderful evening and we enjoyed getting together with the Kennedy's, Keane's and Englebretsen's. I can't believe that our little miss is already 4 years old. She is just so precious to us and we love you Adrianne!

The Fruits of Our Labor!

Greg, Emma & I finally got some of the weeds under control in the garden and this is what Emma found. She loved picking the onions and smelled just like one by the time there were done in the garden. I hope tomorrow that the corn and sunflowers are still standing after the horrible rain and wind we had tonight.
Sounds like all my blogging buddies have been busy enjoying summer. I for one am looking forward to fall. My hours at work are...well they are a lot. I have to put sticky notes everywhere so I know if I am a hostess or working in the Sutler store or doing the 10 pm to 6 am shift or simply doing my job. Don't get me wrong, I love my job but when the help starts to leave it is up to us, the remaining people, to keep things going. Sometimes that means we meet ourselves coming and going. It has been a good year at Fort Rob but I love the Fall and all that it brings.
I got to see Emma this weekend and Brandi brought the boys up today to visit. I tried calling the Kennedy's to see if Austin and Adrianne could come visit but they were gone, probably to the Fair. And Taylor Michael - I am sure he is busy with the fair, however I haven't seen him for forever. I miss seeing my kids and am thankful for the time that they make to come see me.
Jeff is working out of town and I feel like a big LONER most of the time. Tonight I spooked myself out when watching one of my murder and mayhem shows so I locked all the doors when I left to go to the Fort. I didn't want to walk into the house in the middle of the night with having everything open. So, I took out the keys (which we NEVER use) and made sure they fit in the door, locked things up and went to get into the truck - no keys in the truck so I went back to the house and guess what? My keys wouldn't open the door. Luckily my car keys where in the car even though I hadn't been driving it since the license expired 8-1. I made it to work but when it was time to come home I figured I would be sleeping in the car. I worked and worked trying to get in and finally broke through the back door. When I tried the keys in the lock from inside, those darn keys worked........time for a NEW door. I asked Jeremy to help me last week and remove it but he must have forgotten so on my next day off.........I will take it down myself!! So now I am so worked up I know that I won't be able to sleep and have to be up in two hours to go back to work so here I sit blogging!
I think I will paint the back stairs......
